Publication Principles

The publication policies presented on this page have been prepared to define the editorial processes, peer-review practices, and publication principles of STA Journal | Journal of Art and Design Research. These policies are established in accordance with the principles of academic ethics, transparency, and editorial independence, and they encompass the procedures and standards governing the evaluation and publication of submissions to the journal. All works submitted to the journal are assessed within the framework of the publication policies outlined below.

  1. STA Journal | Journal of Art and Design Research is a peer-reviewed, open-access online academic journal that publishes theoretical, critical, and practice-based scholarly works produced in the fields of art and design.
  2. STA Journal | Journal of Art and Design Research adopts the principle of editorial independence. Publication decisions are made solely on the basis of the academic quality of the work, regardless of the authors’ institutional affiliations, academic titles, or personal characteristics.
  3. Submissions to STA Journal | Journal of Art and Design Research must be original, previously unpublished, and not under consideration by another journal simultaneously.
  4. Following the editorial pre-evaluation stage, submissions are subjected to a double-blind peer review process. The review process is conducted in accordance with the principles of confidentiality, impartiality, and academic ethics.
  5. Each manuscript is evaluated by at least two experts in the relevant field. Reviewer reports aim to provide constructive feedback to enhance the scholarly contribution of the work.
  6. Throughout the publication process, scientific methodology, originality, academic rigor, and compliance with ethical principles constitute the fundamental evaluation criteria.
  7. For studies involving human participants or requiring the processing of personal data, the relevant ethics committee approvals in accordance with applicable legislation and disciplinary practices are expected. When necessary, such documents may be requested by the editorial board.
  8. Works found to violate ethical principles may be excluded from evaluation at any stage of the publication process.
  9. If errors, deficiencies, or ethical violations are identified after publication, actions such as correction, retraction, or removal may be implemented.
  10. STA Journal | Journal of Art and Design Research adopts an open-access publication policy. All content published in the journal is made freely available in digital form without any charge. Articles published in STA Journal | Journal of Art and Design Research are released under the Creative Commons Attribution–NonCommercial 4.0 International (CC BY-NC 4.0) license. This license permits sharing, reproduction, and reuse for non-commercial purposes, provided that appropriate attribution is given. Commercial use requires the explicit permission of the author(s).
  11. Published works are presented in accordance with academic writing standards and are digitally archived in order to support long-term access and citation continuity.
  12. Authors acknowledge that they bear full responsibility for copyright and permission issues related to texts, images, and third-party content used in their works.
  13. Personal data processed during the submission, evaluation, and publication stages are handled in accordance with applicable legislation and solely for the purpose of carrying out journal activities.
  14. STA Journal | Journal of Art and Design Research reserves the right to update its publication policies when necessary. Any updates are announced on the journal’s website.
