Personal Data Protection and Privacy Notice

This privacy notice has been prepared to inform relevant individuals, in accordance with the Turkish Personal Data Protection Law No. 6698 (KVKK), regarding the processing of personal data within the scope of the editorial, peer review, and publication processes carried out by STA Journal | Journal of Art and Design Research.

Data Controller
Within the scope of Law No. 6698, the data controller is İrem Fulya Özkan, the publisher of STA Journal | Journal of Art and Design Research.

Processed Personal Data
Within the scope of journal activities and limited thereto, the following personal data may be processed:
Name and surname; email address; institutional affiliation and academic title; ORCID and similar academic identifiers; information shared within the context of manuscripts, peer review reports, and editorial correspondence; system-generated IP and access records.

Purposes of Processing Personal Data
Personal data are processed for the purposes of conducting manuscript submission, evaluation, and peer review processes; maintaining editorial communication; carrying out academic publishing and archiving activities; and ensuring academic ethics, transparency, and traceability.

Legal Basis
Personal data are processed based on the legal grounds specified in Article 5(2) of the Personal Data Protection Law, including cases where processing is explicitly stipulated by law, necessary for the establishment or performance of a contract, required for the data controller to fulfill legal obligations, or necessary for the establishment, exercise, or protection of a legal right. Where required, explicit consent is obtained.

Data Transfer
Personal data are not shared with third parties except for legal obligations. Within the scope of academic publishing processes, data may be shared on a limited basis with editors, reviewers, and authorized public institutions when necessary.

Data Retention Period
Personal data are retained for the period required by the purposes of processing and in accordance with the periods stipulated by applicable legislation; upon expiration of such periods, data are deleted, destroyed, or anonymized.

Rights of the Data Subject
Pursuant to Article 11 of the Personal Data Protection Law, data subjects have the right to learn whether their personal data are processed, request information if their data have been processed, learn whether the data are used in accordance with their intended purpose, request correction of incomplete or inaccurate data, and request deletion or destruction of their personal data within the framework of legal conditions.

VERBIS Registration
STA Journal | Journal of Art and Design Research is not subject to the VERBIS registration obligation due to the scope and nature of its activities.
